Homelessness Initiative Expands Investments in Los Angeles County
The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Board of directors approved five grants totaling $8.5 million in the second quarter of 2024. The grants span the Hilton Foundation’s initiatives and programs working in the U.S. and internationally.
As the largest philanthropic supporter of homelessness solutions in Los Angeles, our Homelessness initiative works to improve access to permanent housing and supportive services for people experiencing homelessness in L.A. County. In the second quarter of 2024, we expanded our investments to ensure both short-term and permanent housing is readily accessible, affordable and tailored to the unique needs of individuals facing homelessness. The initiative supports evidence-based interventions that prevent chronic homelessness and provide the services needed to keep people off the street, with a focus on the connection between stable housing and people’s social, emotional and economic well-being.
To accelerate Los Angeles’ approach to solving homelessness, leaders from business, government, nonprofit sectors, and individuals with lived experience launched a new Leadership Table in June 2024. President and CEO of the Hilton Foundation Peter Laugharn co-leads the group, which is tasked with creating a unified plan to address and prevent homelessness in L.A. County.
The following is an overview of the board-approved grants awarded in the second quarter of 2024:
