Rooted in the life interests and last will of our founder, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation pursues approaches that touch a diversity of people, places and needs. We invest in seven program areas, each of which involves partnering with grantees, generating new knowledge, giving voice to issues and joining with others to achieve measurable impact.

Program Areas

  • Sr. Astridah Banda, OP, graduate of the African Sisters Education Collaborative’s Sister Leadership Development Initiative

“When they announced the first cases of COVID-19… I felt the urgency to do something… Through these programs that we are doing, we are making our community safe, we are making them healthy.”

  • “The Bravehearts gave me the hope and healing I needed to step beyond the trauma of who I once was and walk into the role of helping my peers understand who they can be. This isn’t a program, it’s a way of life.”

    Jessica Grimm, founder of Bravehearts

  • “Our tomorrow will be shaped by the dreams in our children’s hearts. As I interact with young children, I am reminded of what great promise their lives offer and the awesome responsibility we have, as their village, to support fulfillment of that promise.”

Lynette Okengo, executive director of the Africa Early Childhood Network

  • “I am formerly homeless. I was housed by Housing Works of California, and now I am on the board of directors at Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH). My journey is amazing, I am grateful to have the ability to reach out and make a difference in our community.”

Dorothy Edwards, CSH Speak Up! advocate alumni and member of the CSH national board of directors

  • “As I mature and get older, I feel like my purpose has changed. The world is evolving. I feel like our purpose should be to change the world for the next generation, for our children.”

Delvin Davis, Reconcile alum and trainer advocate

  • “Our inclusive advocacy efforts aim to engage refugees, funders, and policymakers on local, national, and global levels to properly resource refugee-led solutions that often rely on volunteers and unstable funds to deliver critical life-saving services. “

Lublanc Prieto, president and founding member of Refugiados Unidos

  • “A socially inclusive WASH system in Asutifi North District where different stakeholders are involved in decision-making or the management of WASH is a welcome development.”
