The Foundation’s investment team was created in July 2008 and engages external money managers to invest globally across different asset classes. Because the Foundation was established to exist in perpetuity, the investment team takes a long-term view toward asset management.
As of December 31, 2015 the team managed approximately $5.3 billion in assets ($2.6 billion in Foundation assets and $2.7 billion in related charitable entities). The Foundation’s assets are invested using the following asset allocation targets:
