The Foundation has worked with partners to develop and scale solutions to end chronic homelessness in Los Angeles. We continue to actively support making permanent supportive housing a reality for our homeless neighbors, particularly through the United Way’s Home For Good community plan. Part of the plan includes its signature annual event, HomeWalk, which serves as a celebration of the year’s work and a platform for awareness to engage LA’s community members in further advocacy to end homelessness.
To help support the multisector collaborative to end homelessness, join United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the Hilton Foundation at HomeWalk on Saturday, November 18. Walk or run to help us end homelessness and learn more about Yes to Housing! an upcoming campaign to ensure we quickly construct housing units needed to house our most vulnerable neighbors in Los Angeles. More than 10,000 walkers and runners from all of LA County’s communities will have an opportunity to engage with other Angelenos, learn about ending homelessness, and travel through downtown to see some incredible supportive housing projects along the way, including Skid Row Housing Trusts’ Star Apartments.
The Hilton Foundation returns this year as the Presenting Sponsor for the event, also sponsoring the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Match. For every $5,000 raised at HomeWalk, the Foundation will match with an additional $5,000. Raise $30,000 and we’ll triple the match! Every donation, every dollar, helps someone. As little as $10 pays for an ID card which is the necessary first step to apply for housing. A $200 donation provides a permanent housing move-in kit for a family. $2,500 provides permanent supportive housing to a neighbor in need with lifelong disabling conditions.
