On November 18, almost 100 Hilton Foundation family and friends joined thousands of Angelenos for the 11th Annual HomeWalk to end homelessness. At this year’s HomeWalk, United Way of Greater Los Angeles launched Yes to Housing!, a campaign to build public support for efforts in Los Angeles to quickly construct the housing units needed to ensure our most vulnerable neighbors in Los Angeles have a safe and stable home they can afford.

Our President and CEO Peter Laugharn addressed the crowd, where he announced United Way raised more than $500,000, closely reaching its goal to unlock the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Match. He commended the collaborative efforts of our partners in government, nonprofit, philanthropy and business, as we continue our commitment to drive long-term solutions to end chronic homelessness in Los Angeles County. Laugharn reiterated the Hilton Foundation’s continued support of United Way of Greater Los Angeles and underscored our continued effort to make permanent supportive housing a reality for our homeless neighbors, particularly through the United Way’s Home For Good community plan.

Since 2009, the Foundation has been one of the biggest supporters of United Way of Greater Los Angeles – helping to create and drive the success of the Home For Good Initiative and events like HomeWalk through matching grants and program support. That long-term commitment was renewed again with a recent grant in the amount of $8.5 million through February 2020 to support United Way’s Home For Good community-driven initiative and its mission to end homelessness in Los Angeles County.
