Emily Skehan provides strategic planning guidance across the Programs Department, supports initiative teams in centering equity in their grantmaking, conducts research and landscaping, and facilitates learning opportunities related to program and Foundation-wide strategy. Skehan previously served as program officer where she managed a portfolio of grants as part of the Special Programs team and, before that, as program associate for the Foster Youth Initiative. Prior to joining the Hilton Foundation, Skehan worked for Homeboy Industries, where she managed grant and fundraising activities for the largest nonprofit gang intervention program in the United States. Skehan also previously held research positions in civic participation and environmental advocacy nonprofits. She received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in sociology from Stanford University.
