Atiqua Hashem

Atiqua Hashem is Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of the Foundation.  She joined the Foundation to establish its in-house legal function and is responsible for managing its overall legal affairs.  In her role, she provides strategic advice and counsel to the board of directors and executive management team and manages teams responsible for corporate governance and board relations, grants management, contracts and risk management, and tax-exempt organizations compliance.

Hashem brings nearly 20 years of experience advising clients in areas of corporate law, governance, complex business transactions and comparative international law.  Hashem started her legal practice as an international mergers & acquisitions attorney at Alston & Bird LLP before transitioning to the non-profit sector to pursue her interest in supporting international humanitarian and development work.  Prior to joining the Foundation, Hashem served as Associate General Counsel at CARE, an international humanitarian organization focused on global poverty, and as General Counsel of ChildFund International, an international development organization with operations in 25 countries. 

Hashem earned her bachelors’ degree in mathematics and economics from Bryn Mawr College and her law degree from University of Florida’s Fredric Levin School of Law.
