Inflow into Chronic Homelessness in Los Angeles County

Inflow into homelessness and chronic homelessness continues to be a significant concern across the Los Angeles region. Once people who are experiencing homelessness connect with a homeless service system provider or partner, they are assessed to determine their acuity level and housing needs. Then, based on their needs and wants, they are matched to available housing and supportive service resources to assist them in exiting homelessness. The community is investing in strategies that meet the needs of individuals falling into both homelessness and chronic homelessness, such as scaling up outreach to link people to services and various housing resources, creating additional interim housing for people to transition off the streets, and developing permanent supportive housing for those who need long-term services and housing assistance.
