Kenya’s Early Childhood Development Future

In recent years, Kenya has made tremendous progress in advancing Early Childhood Development (ECD). National efforts like the Children’s Act of 2022, Community Health Policy and Community Health Strategy represent purposeful steps forward in ensuring young children are healthy, growing and nurtured. However, a gap between policy and practice persists. In many cases, funding for ECD remains insufficient or unprotected; data is not being shared collaboratively to improve outcomes; and program quality varies by location. To help address these challenges, four grantee partners of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation offer their perspectives on Kenya’s ECD landscape and potential solutions to ensure all children can thrive.
