The 10th Anniversary of United Way’s HomeWalk

Together, we can end homelessness.

On Saturday, November 19, more than 70 Foundation staff, board members, friends and family joined a crowd of 12,000 at United Way of Greater Los Angeles’s tenth anniversary HomeWalk, a 5K walk/run to help end homelessness that took place at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles.

Peter Laugharn, our President and CEO, addressed the crowd on Saturday, commending philanthropic partners, nonprofit organizations and the general public for their resounding commitment to ending homelessness in Los Angeles.

Over the past six years, we have invested almost $70 million in Los Angeles County to increase access to supportive housing, but we need to do more. Even with this kind of cost-effective solution, it is critical that we pool our resources together for greater impact. The continued growth and success of HomeWalk is inspiring, because it’s just one more sign of our collective commitment to this cause.

In addition to funding HomeWalk for the past seven years through our Ending Chronic Homelessness strategic initiative, we are proud to partner with United Way of Greater Los Angeles, in particular through Home For Good.
