Barron Hilton Giving Pledge

LOS ANGELES – August 4, 2010. In December 2007, Barron Hilton contributed $1.2 billion and pledged to leave 97% of his estate to the Conrad N. Foundation. Over the years, Hilton has also provided more than $17 million of his own money in personal gifts and pledges to several of the programs supported by the Foundation.

Recently, Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett have been inviting the wealthiest individuals and families in America to commit to giving the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes during their lifetime or in their wills, and asked each to write a public letter explaining their decisions to make the commitment. The "Giving Pledge" and a list of committed donors is now online.

Today, Barron Hilton reiterated his pledge and is now listed on the "Giving Pledge" website, as is a copy of his letter and a photo with his son, Steven M. Hilton, President & CEO of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. This news is featured in today's Wall Street Journal and other publications.
